Piano Tuning

Pianos go out of tune for many reasons, including changes in humidity, frequent playing, temperature changes, moving and relocation.  Of these reasons, humidity has the largest general effect.  Given Chicago's extreme changes in humidity between Summer and Winter, it is almost universally recommended that pianos in our area be tuned a minimum of twice a year, regardless of how often they are played.

A standard tuning uses the A440 frequency and equal temperament. Generally, a tuning takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete; however, appointments are always scheduled for 3 hours, just in case any extra work is required.

My rate for a standard tuning is $140.  This includes an inspection of the instrument and I'll give you a status of your instrument and discuss any recommendations for repair or maintenance with you.
